  Assistant Forest Ranger

  I was an Assistant Forest Ranger for the 50,000 acres of the Five Ponds Wilderness Area. My chief responsibilities were acting in roles of education, health and safety, environmental protection, search and rescue, maintenance, public interpreter, monitoring and patrolling, as well as wild-lands fire containment. I was the youngest of a 21 man crew dispatched to Northern Quebec in the first international wild-lands firefighting mission NYS DEC crews were asked to assist with.
