    • Team Yoga

      Feb 2005 - Aug 2016

About Founder Gordon Kaplan ...For 20 years I honed my skills in athletics, coaching basketball at every level. From the NCAA Tournament, Orlando Magic, a year with Bob Knight at IU earning my Masters, to Clinician for Converse. I've been blessed to learn from the best. in 1999 I took my first yoga training. My bar was raised to the next level in 2003 when I began study with world-renown "teacher of teachers" Aadil Palkhivala. Four years later (2007) I graduated from the College of Purna Yoga under his direction and continue my studies today.I'm a certified yoga teacher at the 2,000-hour level. This level of training is ten times (10x) the norm in my industry and my training is unparalleled. I'm therapeutically trained which means I am able to address, assess, and assist those with injury or illness who wish to use yoga in support of healing.I am registered with Yoga Alliance as an ERYT-500, a qualification that allows me to train other teachers. My workshop experience ranges from Yoga Journal conferences to the Omega Institute, to Tel Aviv, Israel. My clients (pictured here) are Nascar drivers, Pro Football Kickers, Strength Coaches, and Olympic Track athletes, to name a few. Are you next? Show less

Upon completion of the two-year 2,000-hour training with Aadil Palkhivala I was fortunate to be hired on at the studio where I studied and trained. During my tenure I traveled with Aadil to assist him at no fewer than 5 Yoga Journal conferences, two trips to Israel to work with the teacher's association there, a trip to the Omega Institute in upstate New York, and a conference celebrating the birthday of his teacher, B.K.S. Iyengar.I taught several weekly drop-in classes and over some years worked with many private students including but not limited to therapeutic issues. I devised, marketed, and executed my own workshop on multiple occasions including an ever popular Yoga Nidra workshop that I know teach around the country. All great teachers maintain their practice. As such I continued my study with my teacher while on staff. Additionally I contributed to regularly scheduled staff meetings, monitored student attendance through MindBody software, and maintained teacher-student relationships with my students. Show less

Head Coach - Varsity Boys' Basketball

Responsible for developing the basketball program at Skyline High School - a 4A KingCo public school with 2,200 students, and the three teams that comprise that program. Develop and implement over-arching philosophy to teach life through basketball. Our lessons are how to balance competitiveness with sportsmanship, the relationship between effort and reward, and to cultivate an understanding of how team goals and sacrifice conjoin. The most profound way to accomplish this is to uplift and empower the student-athlete, to be demanding in so doing, and to infuse what we do with compassion and care for one another. This role requires that I formulate all strategy and tactics, develop the curriculum through which that will be taught, manage budget, scheduling, strength training, equipment and the relationships with feeder programs at the middle school and select levels.
