  I worked in a research focussed academic role managing and delivering a range of research projects. Specific projects included the development of design protocols and software for the ceramics industry, design and analysis of oil and gas industry components and the management of the Scottish Offshore Materials Centre which was a collaborative project across a number of academic departments. I also supervised a number of PhD and postdctoral researchers funded by a mix of government and industry funding. I am actively involved in formal higher teaching and contribute to MSc programmes at 2 UK universities.
