I ensured smooth flow of daily operations by initiating required documentation throughout the life cycle of a project. A broad overview of tasks include, but not limited to: filing preliminary permit applications, creating reports, AutoCAD Civil 3-D design work, researching historical costs to create accurate cost opinions, drafting change orders as required, and assisting with real-time budget monitoring. Some specific tasks include:- Roadway Design: Utilize AutoCAD to create existing and proposed horizontal and vertical alignments and corridor cross-sections, in accordance to roadway design manuals and AASHTO design policies, to construct proposed grading design for multiple projects in the southeast region- Storm Water Management: Delineate watersheds and determine curve numbers, soil classification, and rainfall data for Civil 3-D Hydraflow inputs to compute pre & post development peak discharges. Compare conditions to evaluate need for additional methods to ensure adequate site drainage- Construction: Generate construction observation reports from weekly on-site project inspections to document current progress and ensure contractor practices and materials meet contract specifications Show less

I conduct research on the development of a vision-based measurement method for estimating the Rail Neutral Temperature and the axial thermal stresses that develop in steel rail utilizing Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technology. I lead and train members of the USC Advanced Railway Technology (ART) Group to execute laboratory testing on a small-scale prototype rail. Additionally, I develop detailed thermal-mechanical and general static models for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using commercial software Abaqus CAE for experimental validation and method verification, as well as to perform parametric studies that will guide future implementation of the method on a full-scale rail system. Show less I performed undergraduate research for a project aiming to improve the performance of prestressed concrete ties through the use of a newly developed concrete material that is of high strength, but a significantly lower elastic modulus. In collaboration with my research team, I investigated the benefits of using this highly resilient material in prestressed concrete ties through laboratory experimentation by employing conventional instrumentation (e.g. strain gages, and LVDTs) and vision based non-contacting techniques (Digital Image Correlation DIC) to acquire data and computer simulations utilizing the Finite Element Method for testing validation and verification.
