  Senior Assistant Researcher

  My primary responsibility is to involve in research projects related to image processing and computer vision. I had committed myself as a team member in two projects, which are upgraded-QR code project and the Smart City project. In the upgraded QR code project, my primary role is to assist in developing am upgraded QR code, so that more information can be stored in the new version of QR code projects. Hence, a user can save/retrieve info, for instances, music or picture, in a small QR code. Throughout this project, I had successfully published a conference paper and presented in ICOCOE conference 2015. For the second project, I assisted in developing a computer vision system in the surveillance camera. In this project, I helped in developing object detection and tracking module using IP 360 degree cameras.   My job in TARUC can be categorized into five different areas:1) Academic - My primary role is to conduct lectures with 15-20 teaching hours per week. - I also conduct tutorials, prepare examination questions, coursework, and mark examination paper. - I conduct Research Methodology classes to post-graduate or undergraduate students. - I supervise guide and train students for their capstone projects. We usually collaborate with industry for their projects. - I supervise year four students for their final year projects. At the same time, I train them to be ready for research environment in post-graduate study.2) Research- My role is to obtain research grants and become the principal researcher.- I supervise and co-supervise master candidates.- I actively produce publications from my research.3) Industrial Collaborations- I work closely with industry for any industrial collaboration projects.- I work with Harvester Sdn BhD and Malaysia Innovation Hub for developing edible bird nest impurities detection system using machine vision and artificial intelligence.- I also work with one Large Multinational Company with Headquarter in Japan for car accessories defect detection system using machine vision.4) Administrative work- Since 2018, I was promoted to the Program Leader (PL) of the Electrical and Electronics Department. As PL, I am in charge of collecting the course files of all lecturers in E&E department. I am also in charge of any administrative work related to Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering programmes. Meanwhile, I also assist the associate dean in dealing with any audit and accreditation processes. Also, I am in charge of any credit transfer, leave application, deferment interview, or loan interview that involve any undergraduate.
