My role for this year within the team is to design and manufacture the most cost effective and simplest prototypes of everything that the Design team creates. The target is to create a smaller version of our brand-new built from scratch FS25 car, mainly for geometrical configuration purpose, but also to test that the designs created in CAD are feasible and that we do not rush into manufacturing considering our tight budget. In addition to that I have created an Excel model to compute loads each suspension link experiences within 5 load cases, which was a pivotal point for the suspension design of the new FS25 car. Reading Derek Seward's "Race Car Design" book was crucial to make the model accurate. The model can be used to fully design the double wishbone suspension, where the user can also check the safety factors and fatigue stresses at each individual link. Show less - Manufactured some key components of the FS24 car, some of which are: tabs, heat shield, prototyped the front suspension bracing.- Was one of the key responsible people on the team during testing and the competition itself. Main responsibilities during testing: checking the tire pressure and temperatures, checking the engine mounts, carrying the battery for car start, delivering all the information in a fast and sensible manner. - Built the car itself, painted all the suspension components and the skid plates. Became proficient in water jet cutting and one of the few people in the team who are allowed to use that machine. Show less
