Assistant Lecturer In Music Production Course

This was an invaluable learning period for me. It taught me the importance of how to communicate clearly and relay information that can easily be grasped and remembered. To be able to work with people is my strongest skill-set and this really helped me strengthen it even more by allowing me to further my passion of helping, teaching and sharing my knowledge with others in my field as well as learning new things from them and discovering new things with them. I assisted in running the designed course to provide graduates with the necessary technical and practical knowledge to enable them to become working professionals in the sound production industry. Tutoring students in the fundamentals of sound and the way in which it behaves and how to apply this knowledge practically and better their recordings and productions through the science of sound. Training students to understand the theory and when to implement it in to a real world scenario. Teaching and expanding students's minds when thinking about music and what it exactly is. Teaching different production skills and tricks to create different genres of music easily and professionally. Guiding students through real world production briefs and assessing them in alignment to the same standards expected by the international markets of music production and the music business.Teaching students what to do theoretically and then aiding them in setting up their own recording/production sessions in the world-class studio facilities for the purpose of providing needed real world experience for this technical but 'hands on' vocation. Helping them in all aspects of Sound Engineering and guiding them every step of the way. Show less

      Freelance Sound Engineer

My job as the Sound Engineer at Both Worlds Studios was to ensure the delivery of all sound elements for the T.V. show Puppet Nation. Working as part of the very vibrant and creative small team at the highly popular ZANEWS, "the home of Puppet Nation ZA – South Africa’s award-winning satirical puppet show", we had to ensure completion of one episode per week under a tight budget and time constraints. This taught us how to manage our time well and think on our feet to deliver a very professional and hilariously fun product under the guidance and direction of producer Thierry Cassuto and award-winning cartoonist, Jonathan Shapiro. My main responsibilities were:- Producing Sound Content for the T.V. show "Puppet Nation" - Composing the score and/or jingles - Recording Foley- Creating Sound Effects- Sound Design- Recording Voice overs- Editing Voice Overs- Editing each weekly episode - Final mix of each weekly episode- Communicating with film crew and managers to ensure timely delivery of product.
