  I am the Chief of Department of a medium sized, combination fire department in northeast Harris County Texas. Our department provides fire suppression and emergency medical services to a community of 33 square miles and a population of 68,000 residents. We responded to 4600 requests for service in 2014 and currently have a membership of full time, part time and volunteers that numbers in the 200s. I am currently serving as the Interim Fire Chief of the Department. This position will resolve when the Board of Commissioners selects a replacement for the departed chief. I am now ultimately responsible for all aspects of department operations and direction. Second in command of a moderately sized combination fire department.
