      Teaching Fellow

Department of English and Related LiteratureI taught undergraduate modules on early modern literature and literary theory across the degree. I collaborated with colleagues to determine curriculum content and to establish clear pedagogical links between various modules and levels of the B.A. degree. I delivered lectures, facilitated seminars and workshops, and led small group tutorials. I examined and gave feedback to students on their formative and assessed work which included dissertations, essays, group presentations, and individual oral contributions in seminars. I designed and developed learning resources (including audio-visual and online materials) to enhance student engagement. I also contributed to team-taught modules on the M.A. in Renaissance Literature 1500-1700 A.D. Finally, I collated textual variants, contributed to the glossary, and copy-edited the manuscript of Kevin Killeen, ed. Thomas Browne: Christian Morals (forthcoming, Oxford University Press). The York Management SchoolI provided academic support to undergraduate students and convened a mandatory year-long module, ‘Understanding Arguments in Management’ (UAM), which developed academic and critical skills in first-year undergraduates and supported them in their transition to higher education. I designed learning resources on structuring an essay, formulating an argument, seeking appropriate and credible scholarly resources and integrating them with one's work, developing original thinking, referencing, and academic integrity. I recruited, managed, trained and co-ordinated a team of tutors who taught on UAM. In addition to the management and quality assurance role on UAM, I acted as a tutor – delivering academic skills development seminars, marking work, giving individual face-to-face feedback and extra support. Oct 2012 - Jun 2013
      Lecturer in Renaissance Literature

I designed, convened and delivered a year-long introductory module on Renaissance Literature at second-year undergraduate level. As a part of my role, I established the learning objectives of the module, defined key transferrable skills, and created a module handbook and a corresponding Blackboard site. I designed a plural assessment system that simultaneously develops presentation skills and reflective and critical writing in students. I delivered lectures, facilitated seminars, and gave individual tuition in tutorial settings to respond to the learning requirements of a diverse student body. I also offered pastoral support and conducted assessment and gave feedback on student work. Finally, I carried out administrative tasks such as module design, development and evaluation and led the department’s annual programme review meetings to develop pedagogical and pastoral approaches for 2013-14.
