  As a State Purchasing Officer I ensure the State's business is conducted with efficiency, transparency, fairness, and integrity by providing independent oversight of the procurement process. A State Purchasing Officer is an employee of the Executive Ethics Commission and appointed by the Chief Procurement Officer, thereby achieving independence from the agency to which I am assigned.   As a Senior State Purchasing Officer, I have several responsibilities: 1) to ensure the State of Illinois' business is conducted with efficiency, transparency, fairness, and integrity by providing independent oversight of the procurement process; 2) mentoring and leading a group of State Purchasing Officers assigned to various agencies; 3) assisting the Chief Procurement Officer for General Services with instituting policies and processes at the agency level. My primary agency assignment is the Department of Central Management Services, with five additional assignments to agencies, commissions, and/or boards within State government. As an employee of the Executive Ethics Commission and appointed by the Chief Procurement Officer, independence from the agency is achieved. Show less
