      Some of my relevant project work includes:Power System Modelling: • Simulating electricity production cost and hourly dispatch models using the Electricity Planning Model (EPM) for both country and regional markets to assess least cost decarbonization pathways • Developing model inputs including inventories of existing, committed and candidate electricity generation sources, renewable energy production profiles (solar, wind, hydro, BESS), representative days analysis, system reliability requirements and regional integration frameworks via data analysis, machine learning, primary and secondary research • Forecasting electricity demand (country and regional levels) using annual planning outlooks and integrated resource plans (IRPs) • Scenario development and analysis for assessing energy transition impacts (carbon tax, increased electrification, energy efficiency) and climate impacts (uncertain hydro reliability, droughts, demand changes) • Capital investment analysis for upcoming emission reduction technologies including Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS), Direct Air Capture (DAC), Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCUS) and Hydrogen • Leading the Power Sector Transition component of World Bank’s flagship Country Climate Development Reports for multiple countries.       Carbon Pathways focuses on enabling global capital to finance a portfolio of carbon offsetting projects across Pakistan. My responsibilities included: • Leading the carbon accreditation for a 15 MW micro-hydro plant in northern Pakistan, with the project successfully listed on the Gold Standard Registry and currently undergoing third party verification. This project focused on the rehabilitation of existing micro hydro sites destroyed due to the 2022 catastrophic floods in the region. • Capacity building of project owners, Sarhad Rural Support Program, to ensure all accreditation requirements by Gold Standard were met. • Introducing Renewable Energy Certificates to Pakistan for the first time with the collaboration of International RECs Foundation. PET became the sole accreditor of RECs in the country. • Building capacity of RECs buyers and sellers across the country through trainings and workshops. Show less

My responsibilities included: • Developing a Renewable Energy Policy for Balochistan, highlighting the abundant solar and wind potential while focusing on the geographic and demand related constraints in the province.• Collaborating with stakeholders from provincial energy department, the local utility, and community-based organizations to understand bottlenecks and insights for the policy draft. This project focused on highlighting local voices and solutions for renewable energy and energy access deployment in the province, an effort that had not been done before on this scale.• Managed a team of 5 people, overseeing their roles, task assignments, and timelines to ensure project completion. • Responsible for capacity building of my team, enhancing their skills and competencies through training and development initiatives. • Published the report: Balochistan Renewable Energy Assessment Study highlighting the key challenges to renewable energy deployment in the province. • Organized a national level conference, bringing together stakeholders from government bodies, utilities, NGOs and the private sector and conducted a working group on renewable policy development for the province.
