Represent Craft from the West of Ireland at the Urkult Festival in Sweden 2016

Going to Urkult Urs Harttung craft worker per excellence from Headford who makes beautiful products out of recycled material and used objects. He recently got picked to represent the west of Ireland at the Urkult festival in Sweden to showcase his 2016 collection of hand crafted string instruments and carpet bags.Urkult is a well-established Folk Music Festival in Sweden that combines Arts and Crafts with family events such as circus, along with local organic food. It is a meeting place and a source for inspiration for all lovers of the festival atmosphere. During the three days of the first weekend of August, people of all ages, crafts and culture along with music, from different parts of the world arrive to Näsåker, the village located by the great rapid Nämforsen in Ångermanälven, Sweden.Through the Creative Edge, Urs and his small outlet Bearfoot Enterprise got picked with two other craftspeople to represent the west of Ireland. Creative Edge is a project funded by the Northern Periphery Programme (NPP). The main objective of the project is to promote the active participation of local creative organisations and businesses in global markets, while also aiding them in their ability to attract and utilise local emerging creative talent in these markets. This year Bearfoot Enterprise focuses on the production of Irish inspired biscuit tin box guitars and his Victorian inspired handbags and satchels are made from reused materials. Both items reflect Urs` love of simple, stylish and quirky design combined with an excellent craftsmanship. What come out of his workshop are handcrafted products in small series. No piece is the same, resulting in a unique personal creation. Show less
