    • Regional Rail Link Authority (RRLA)

      Jul 2013 - Jan 2014
      Graduate Project Engineer

As a project Engineer for Regional Rail link, I conducted surveillance and auditing of the Contractor, which provided me with a wealth of experience and knowledge in construction works such as earthworks, pavements, drainage, surfacing and bridgeworks. As part of a small surveillance team, I mainly focused on the construction of road over rail bridges at Greens Rd and Blackforest Road, as well as the the rail alignment in a green fields environment. When not outside undertaking surveillance, I was assisting the quality manager with audits, collating information and reviewing documents. I used my knowledge of programming to automate sections of the non-conformance register and create a visual aid for management to track the progress of construction of the signalling infrastructure. I reviewed the Contractor's checklists and Inspection and testing plans for compliance with standards and the Contract. Also, I aided with the closing-out of non-conformances by negotiating with the Contractor how repairs would be undertaken and then auditing the work.I was also involved in:* Reviewing sections of the Contractor's monthly claim against physical completion and submission of quality documents.* Conducting weekly environmental inspections throughout the 26km of the project* Undertaking audits of the Contractor's suppliers to ensure that the materials used complied with the specification. These audits took me to check the galvanizing process for the information gantries, checking reinforcement in pre-cast concrete units and material plants. Show less

    • VicRoads

      Jan 2014 - Jun 2015

With a high level of skill in AutoCad and Sketchup, I was able to hit the ground running using the Microstation design package. This combined with my experience at ARRB and knowledge of AustRoads standards meant that I integrated well into the Road design team.My main tasks involved designing and modifying the horizontal and vertical alignment of a major regional road and undertaking modelling using InRoads to investigate Right Of Way requirements. I also designed intersection alternatives in constrained areas or with difficult terrain in order to minimize impact on the public and to keep a consistent driving experience. My design for a signalized intersection in Colac was a great experience as I had to account for restrictions such as petrol stations and bridge over a rail.Apart from generating designs, I also:* Provided road design advice to key stakeholders in accordance with guidelines, standards, policies and procedures. * Undertook reviews for tender designs and produced reports* Participated and wrote several bridge maintenance reports Show less
