  Research Assistant

  In my previous role as Research Assistant I conducted psychology experiments, organised appointments for participants, analysed data and presented findings. Through testing participants and analyzing data I was involved in writing detailed experiment descriptions, advertising and recruiting participants, scheduling appointments for participants and liaising laboratory staff for equipment availability. I also have experience of running eye tracking experiments. I would interview participants to ensure they were suitable for the experiment i.e. appropriate age, vision and health criteria, and explain the experiment task prior to and debriefing participants after the experiment. I was also responsible for organising participant data and paperwork including consent forms in accordance with ethics of confidentiality and data protection. Post the experiments I would analyse the data and collate the findings in reports and presentations; using statistical software and excel to present data using descriptives such as tables and graphs to facilitate communication of my findings to readers or audiences.   In this customer and sales focused role I operated as a first point of contact for new and returning home or business insurance customers. I used rapport building and intelligent questioning to enable insightful understanding of customer requirements and personalising discussion to engage customers with our insurance product on a meaningful level. I have experience of working in commercial insurance, high end home insurance and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and I have passed CII (Charted Institute of Insurance) Certified exams demonstrating my commitment to personal and professional development advancing my knowledge and skills.I was treasurer for the charity committee, managing finances, planning and organising fund raising events and implementing the design of flyers, posters and newsletters. I was also a member of an employee experience think tank, creating and implementing business improvement solutions. A recent solution was to contribute was a ‘coaching menu’ concept to drive engagement during employee development sessions. Show less A secondment as a User Acceptance Tester for the launch of a custom tailored insurance quotation system for the Hiscox direct commercial department; this role required excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to explain how to replicate discovered defects to allow system designers to investigate programme faults. I used my prior experience as a Business Insurance expert to evaluate which defects were more detrimental than others, and communication skills to explain to designers why they were detrimental to ensure the most productive fixes were carried out. I have assisted on formation of support material and design suggestions for the custom commercial software I am testing. Through this improvement process I gained experience of using JIRA software to monitor and track defects as part of a test, re-test process. Show less

  As Student Financial Support Officer within Student Services I administered student financial support schemes by assessing and allocating undergraduate and postgraduate funding in the form of bursaries, fee waivers, hardship funds and emergency loans.I maintained an accurate record of Student Financial Support provided; enabling me to interpret and develop statistics of data collected, for presentation to the Office for Fair Access (OFFA) Monitoring Group and responses to Freedom of Information requests.In my position I worked as part of a team to develop internal policies, provide information, advice and guidance to students and staff on funding and delivery of financial support to students as outlined in the University Access agreement.Participating in Open and Post-Offer Visit Days I presented to prospective and current students and their parents on the various types of funding available to them.I possess strong IT skills; proficient in the use of Microsoft office, GoogleDrive and SITS Fund Manager.
