  Senior House Musician

  I work here in a traditional music capacity, as the senior in house musician and singer. Basically, the role involves setting up of sound equipment, doing audio checks, preparing and performing a carefully planned out setlist which has been predetermined and rehearsed with my fellow musicians. Occasionally, it is required that setlists are decided on the night, depending on the crowd and the requests which I receive. Therefore, because of the somewhat ad hoc nature of the role at times, I have adapted to becoming excellent with interpersonal communication, quite flexible so the needs of the patrons are catered for as well as being an overall affable representative for both the band and the establishment of O' Donohues which has a long standing tradition of having an amiable atmosphere and rich musical background.In addition to this role, I often help close up the bar which involves helping with accounts and closing tills and occasionally stocktaking.   I always endeavour to expand and diversify my sample portfolio as a freelance artist. Some of the areas I can work in and take commissions in are inclusive of but not limited to: graphic designer, illustration, tattoo design, but my primary focus tends to be on portraiture.As well as working closely with clients to ensure that the specifications of their commissions are matched, I also promote my work through a variety of manners including through social media. Thus, I am well experienced in dealing with clients and meeting their expectations. Most recently, I have been donating pieces to charity, which have been auctioned and have raised substantial amounts for various charitable organisations and support groups at both local and national levels.The Facebook page I initially set up for the showcasing of my work was more or less just a hobby.   GiG Soc is the LGBT society in National University of Ireland, Galway.As President of the society, it was my duty to make ensure that members are provided with a safe forum in which they could be as open and expressive about their sexuality as they wished, without fear of prejudice or harassment. As President, it was also my duty to preside at all committee meetings of the society, thus fostering leadership and management skills.Also, as President it was my duty to ensure that the society was running efficiently and effectively on all fronts, including financially, promotion on campus, representation in the student media (SIN newspaper) etc, managing committee members and ensuring that they fulfilled their required duties. Relating to this, on a personal level I also worked with SHOUT LGBT in Galway city and Aids West on supportive and educational fronts. Show less
