      Volunteer

I have volunteered in multiple units during my time at Kaweah Health. I first volunteered in environmental services in high school, but came back and volunteered in the oncology unit. I have experience in the emergency department and my current position is in the CVICU. During my time at the CVICU, I have gotten the opportunity to shadow CVICU nurses in daily activities, observing important procedures such as open heart recoveries, IV insertions, extubations, intubations, tube exchanges, ambulations, codes, transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), and beside tracheostomies. I also assisted in basic patient care such as ambulation, gathering important materials for nurses, and basic procedures (ensuring glucometers were quality controlled and emptying foleys). I also interpreted arterial blood gasses, heart monitor values, and EKGs in relation to what they mean in patient care. Finally, I moderated communication between the CVICU and other units by transferring calls to the necessary nurses, pharmacist, or patients.During my time volunteering at the oncology unit, I was trained in attending to the needs of patients. My duties included answering call lights, facilitating communication between nurses and nursing assistants, keeping patients company, directing staff, discharging patients, ensuring paperwork was correct, and gathering materials for the nurses. Aug 2021 - now
      Student Nurse

I have been a nursing student at UCLA School of Nursing since 2021 and started my clinical experience in February 2024. As a nursing student, I took subjects like anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology, and gained hands-on experience through clinical rotations in various healthcare settings. I currently have a cumulative 120 hours of clinical experience 90 hours on the Neuroscience and Stoke Unit and 30 hours on the Cardiac Unit. I developed strong communication skills, interacting effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. My time management and organizational abilities allowed me to prioritize nursing care effectively. My classes have taught me important nursing skills such as inserting IVs, administering medications (PO, SubQ, IM, IVPB), physical assessments, bed baths, etc. I hope to improve these skills through further clinical experience. • Alpha Tau Delta- National Fraternity for Professional Nurses

      Apr 2022 - now

As president of ATD, I am in charge of ensuring our events and operations meet the needs of our members and community. I collaborate with board members to organize a variety of events, such as the Community Health Fair at UCLA, the Graduating Member Q&A, and the Nurse’s Week Volunteer Event. I run biweekly board meetings, set deadlines, and delegate tasks to enhance team communication. By regularly meeting with general members, I assess their needs and advocate for different cohorts during board meetings. Additionally, I maintain consistent communication with alumni and external partners, facilitating collaborative events like the educational social event with Men in Nursing and Women’s Health Nursing Organization, a Blood Drive with UCI and SJSU chapters, and a Nursing Panel with UCLA Health nurses. Show less As External Vice President of ATD, I am responsible for various tasks and activities. I foster engagement among members and facilitate professional growth opportunities for nursing students. Within ATD, I work closely with the President to gather and share information about past and current activities, as well as external affairs of the fraternity. In the absence of the President and Internal Vice President, I ensure all their duties are performed during chapter meetings.Handling internal matters is another important aspect of my role, which involves managing items and attendance related to fraternity members. I work closely with the Community Service Chair and Fundraising Commissioner, providing assistance, ensuring their jobs are completed efficiently. I am also in charge of organizing professional events for the club. Finally, I facilitate communication throughout the fraternity by creating a weekly memo. Show less
