I had primary loss control/risk improvement responsibility for over 100 participants and consulting/support for 4 affiliate members that represented public safety, wastewater control, and public water supply entities.   I was recruited to develop and coordinate a 5 year plan to address a U.S. paper and Canadian pulp mill that were under performing in safety. I worked with leadership and unions to attain a 66% reduction in recordable injury rate and better than 50% reduction in total incidents. Major projects included a simple plan-do-check-act management approach to safety change with leading metrics, implementation of human factors (behavioral) safety processes, and a cooperative "Partners in Safety" process. Updated many safety programs with built in quality loops, including safety training, lockout, confined space, fall protection, PPE, chemical hazard communication, powered industrial truck, respiratory protection, safety auditing/inspection and severe injury/fatality (SIF) prevention.
