Exhibition of a product designed for Alpi Wood - May 2015 The project aims to introduce a new approach for Natuzzi, a longtime collaborator with Alpi Wood, as a Italian furniture brand that caters to its customers by personalizing its collection depending on their taste, creating for them custom-fitted furniture, varying in texture and colors. The problem is that the customer pays a costly amount for a piece of furniture that he cannot obtain instantly, and has to wait for 2 months for it to be customized. He leaves empty- handed, only with a sample of the textile or leather he picked. We are suggesting in our project to turn this sample into a piece of accessory that has a place inside the living space of the customer. Based on the geometric shapes of the fixtures and decorative elements Natuzzi already has in its collection, we created a flatten piece of leather and wood, that can take different predefined shapes, and offer a freedom of expression to the customer, by allowing him to create from the same object a box, a bowl, a book holder, a decorative platform, a tablet holder, etc. or even try to come up with possible new solutions. The wooden parts serve as a free geometric grid allowing multiple shapes by folding, the leather as a structure holding the wooden pieces together, and magnet tablets to maintain the shape of the object. The overall product serves as a functional sample of wood and leather, showcasing the knowledge and practice of Alpi in skills and cutting edge technology, of Natuzzi in leather craftsmanship, and allowing a better experience of a buying customer.product showcased at Showroom Alpi, Via Melzo 7, Milan, Italy. Official Selection for a chocolate design competition EuroChocolate Italia Apr 2015 The brief of the competition explains how consuming a chocolate in a public space is more enjoyable to the consumer, than eating in in private. Based on this idea, I design a new type of chocolate shape that can only be consumed after the consumer breaks it into smaller pieces, thus encouraging the sharing experience.
