      In this role, I managed over 120 St John volunteers across the Howick and Pakuranga area, with responsibility for strategic planning, finances, stakeholder engagement, business administration, project management, teaching, and supporting volunteers' professional development. In my capacity as Divisional Manager, I grew Howick/Pakuranga Division from 30 members (when I first took over) to over 120 volunteers in the span of one year. The Division and my management was recognised by the Chief Executive Officer and other senior managers as one of the best performing nationally. I was also recognised by the Minister of Health, who awarded me the 2017 Youth Health Volunteer of the Year (Runner-Up) Award. Show less

      Reporting to the Upper Hutt City Council Youth Network and Community Development Manager, I was tasked with researching and proposing policy initiatives directed at empowering youth, particularly economically and social deprived youth in Upper Hutt. Tasks included writing policy reports with evidence-based recommendations to present to the relevant Council committees, and liaising with the local Member of Parliament to bring issues to the attention of Central Government.

      Funding from the Health Research Council of New Zealand Summer Research Scholarship in Ethics. Administered by The University of Auckland, New Zealand.This project combined my two fields of study: philosophy and population health. The research was concerned primarily with obesity and the ethics of personal responsibility. The state of disparities in obesity was explored and analysed, to highlight any bearing this may have on personal responsibility. I subsequently developed an original framework for discussing the ethics of personal responsibility within the context of obesity, with implications for academic discourse and public policy.       Worked with the Auckland Drug Information Outreach (ADIO) Trust, one of New Zealand's largest needle and syringe exchange providers. In my capacity as the Policy Analyst and Programme Evaluator (Intern), I evaluated the recently implemented community-based Hepatitis C Clinic and its success. I also provided advice and analysis on the organisation's current policies and practices, potential areas for improvement, existing ethical issues, and general population health issues facing the organisation.       In recognition of my outstanding scholarly and research contribution, I was granted Academic Visitor Status by Worcester College, Oxford. This granted me full membership of the College and University of Oxford while conducting my research in New Zealand, prior to my return to the University in September 2019 to continue my postgraduate studies. Based at Worcester College, Oxford, I am the inaugural recipient of a fully-funded scholarship to undertake postgraduate study and research work in the area of philosophy and political theory. My primary area of work as the Provost's Scholar is on political and moral philosophy, especially questions around theories of distributive justice, liberalism, normative and applied ethics, and public health ethics.

      My role, within a multi-disciplinary team, was to lead the strategic review and writing of Volunteering New Zealand's national strategy to support recent migrants in volunteering. The strategy has been developed to promote migrant volunteering best-practice across the sector, promote inclusive environments for volunteering, and empower recent migrants to enrich and connect to their communities. Funding for the strategy came from an inter-agency fund managed by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, as a result of VNZ's successful response to an RFP. The RFP related to initiatives that aligned with Immigration New Zealand's broader 'Migrant Settlement and Integration Strategy'. Show less

      I was a Stipendiary Lecturer in Political Theory at the University of Oxford, affiliated with Pembroke College and Jesus College from 2022 to 2024. I was responsible for teaching, supervising and examining students in political philosophy, as well as interviewing and admitting students to the University and College. I also contributed to lecturing and tutoring in ethics/moral philosophy. I held this lectureship alongside my doctoral studies and research. I completed my doctorate (DPhil/PhD) in political philosophy at the University of Oxford. My thesis focused on the demands of justice in global health, where I developed a cosmopolitan account of health equity beyond borders. I received my Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Political Theory with Distinction from the University of Oxford in July 2021.
