Year on year the efficiency of data transmission progresses; however, in the case of conventional optical systems a fundamental limit on how much information is communicable appears to be on the horizon. In order to circumvent this barrier, the use of novel forms of structured light are now being entertained. As such, it is necessary to have an experimentally viable means of precisely generating and identifying the endowed properties of the structured light, which is the undercurrent to his research. Quantum electrodynamical theory offers the most precise tool and insights into the physical observables, with obvious theoretical transferability to the interrogation of materials and associated spectroscopic techniques of continued interest to him.
