  Control room panel engineer for EDC cracker of VCM plant which comprises of crackers, distillation columns of binary and ternary mixtures, high temperature chlorination reactor etc.Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) is raw material for manufacturing very popular product PVC. EDC is manufactured by performing High temp Chlorination in the presence of catalyst. Raw materials used are Chlorine from CA plant and Ethylene from EPRU. This EDC is cracked to 50% depth at approx. 525Deg centigrade temp and then fed to series of distillation columns after quenching. HCL the byproduct and un-cracked EDC is separated from VCM.Complex process and highly corrosive environment due to presence of HCL offer rich experience to Chemical Engineers. Show less
