      Alex had the opportunity to work as a Nuclear Programs Engineer intern at the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant. In this position, Alex worked to align St. Lucie’s buried piping program with the standards set by the updated NEI 09-14. He also gained experience in a variety of jobs outside of his department, including reactor engineering. Most valuably, He worked within a group dedicated to designing an alternative, temporary spent fuel cooling system. The system, which was designed over a three month period, was implemented in the fleet’s outages, and is anticipated to save in excess of $1,500,000 per reactor, per outage. Show less

      Alex qualified as an Engineering Officer of the Watch, Engineering Duty Officer, Auxiliary Control Room Supervisor, Simulations Instructor, and Crew Training Engineer on a nuclear submarine/moored training ship. As a Crew Training Engineer, he was responsible for training and qualifying naval officers and enlisted sailors in the fundamentals of nuclear power and plant operations prior to their assignment as crew members on the nuclear submarines and surface ships of the U.S. fleet.
