  As a CLO, I carried out a wide range of practical conservation and landscaping projects. These included habitat restoration, tree felling, erosion mitigation, habitat creation, fencing and path creation. As an Education Officer I led educational activities based upon the natural world, leading school, college and university groups on educational and practical sessions. I also led volunteer work parties, carrying out practical conservation tasks, as well as planning and leading events.

  Biodiversity and Community Relationships Co-ordinator

  I was responsible for leading the company’s biodiversity strategy, Together for Nature, and developing partnerships with external community and conservation-based organisations. I developed and updated contract-specific action plans to help work with clients to enhance the biodiversity potential of their assets and help comply with their own government-led biodiversity obligations. My key responsibilities included:Lead author for the company’s Together for Nature strategy document, including annual updates and end-of-year reviews;Monitoring and reporting of all depots’ biodiversity, community and educational activities;Instigating and developing partnerships with key conservation organisations such as local Wildlife Trusts;Delivery of biodiversity, community and educational activities for clients across the country;Investigation of new models of land management for improving habitats;Liaison with contracts and clients to further develop good management practice for wildlife;Development of key company policies, including Safeguarding, Social Media and Social Value; andWriting and proofreading method statements for tenders.In addition, I also assisted with the administration and minor management of the contract for South Lakeland District Council, including:Purchasing;Maintenance of personnel files, vehicle documentation and machinery files;Maintenance of ISO 14001 files, and meeting with external auditors;Writing and circulation of incident reports;Maintenance of health and safety systems, including HAVS reporting; andStaff inductions.I sat on the company’s board of strategy management. I had delegated responsibility from the Managing Director and all managers reported to me with biodiversity and community-related activities, and with related toolbox talks.
