  Traveling Exhibition Designer

  Designed and coordinated inaugural exhibition presentations in the new wing lower level gallery following completion of the museum expansion in 2001. During the expansion project, several large exhibitions were successfully installed despite great physical challenges during construction, with success of the traveling exhibition program essential to maintaining critical revenue. Also participated in owner and contractor weekly meetings as department liaison, and contributed to exhibition charrette sessions. Traveled to host venues to document and review pending exhibitions and delivered presentations at planning committee meetings.   Consistently meet installation deadlines while maintaining strict standards of presentation and object preservation for 15-20 small to large scale exhibitions each year. Direct and participate in all phases of object installation from mounting small and delicate works to rigging large and heavy objects. Recognized as a highly effective manager of 6 full time exhibition support staff, including graphic designers and production artists as well as mountmaking, cabinetmaking, art installation, and lighting specialists. Well experienced in recruiting, scheduling and supervising contractors and temporary exhibition technicians. Initiated 3D CAD presentations to improve curatorial assessment of design and layout of exhibition spaces and custom architectural elements. Developed and implemented in-house fabrication of an extensive custom modular exhibition wall system which added significant improvements to presentation quality, layout accuracy, and ease and speed of configuration, and continual improvements are addressed to improve safety. Proven reliability as a courier of highly valuable art objects to local, national and international venues. Enact and enforce safety policies and procedures to protect staff health and meet OSHA regulations. Show less
