      Oct 2017 - Mar 2020

I was a member of and oversaw as a board member the Synapsium committee, which organises a yearly symposium about Neuroscience. For the symposium, a keynote speaker from the world of neuroscience is invited. Students from various international universities also speak at the symposium.I was a member of the activity committee, which organises activities for members of the study association.I found a committee that created a monthly newsletter about the study association and the Donders Institute. We provided background information on subjects close to our hearts and interviewed interesting employees of the Donders Institute. We also created yearbooks for the students of the Master's programme. Show less I acted as secretary in the second board of study association Dondrite (Cognitive Neuroscience). In this capacity I carried out general tasks, such as overseeing committees and providing structure for the flow of information within the association, and I took minutes during weekly board meetings and general assemblies. I have gained experience in meeting efficiently, thinking and acting proactively, and making decisions for the purpose of a group. I have learned from working intensively with others and training future board members. Show less

For my Master's degree in Cognitive Neuroscience, I have researched bilingual word processing and word translation using the computational model Multilink under supervision of Ton Dijkstra. My research focussed on simulating the psycholinguistic phenomena orthographic and semantic priming. In orthographic priming, people respond slower to target words when they are preceded by a prime word that is similar to the target word, such as CORK - WORK. In semantic priming, people respond faster to target words when they are preceded by a prime word that is related in meaning to the target word, such as WITCH - BROOM. My internship and thesis were evaluated with a 9. My thesis will be used for a scientific paper.During my internship, I have also supervised several Artificial Intelligence students working on their Bachelor thesis. I aided in their research, gave advice and answered their questions. Show less
