  Director of InstitutePresident George W. Bush (Then Texas Governor Bush) honored Joe Fauss for serving in the institutions of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for over 23 years beginning at the Coffield Unit where he was the first volunteer to minister cell-to-cell in Administrative Segregation. He was also one of the first Volunteer Chaplains in meeting the overwhelming needs of incarcerated offenders. It was cited, "Joe and Charlotte Fauss have been involved in the transformation and training of convicted felons, sending them into every corner of the world to tell their story of spiritual transformation." In April, 1994, Joe Fauss was presented a Certificate of Commendation by the State of Texas Department of Criminal Justice with greetings from Texas Governor Ann Richards. The presentation was in "recognition of twenty years of valuable and honorable volunteer service with a high level of professionalism". Show less
