Mar 2012 - Dec 2012Trained shoe fitter and sales assistantAt Clarks, my main role was customer service, and I was responsible for measuring children's feet and selling shoes (and various products) for both children and adults. These roles allowed me to acquire and further develop various skills, including Sales, Customer Service, Communication, Teamwork, Problem Solving, Stocktaking, and Operating a Cashier Till.The job required me to have a keen eye for detail, as measuring children's feet accurately was crucial to ensure they received the correct shoe size. Additionally, I had to communicate effectively with customers, listening to their requests and offering advice and suggestions where necessary. Teamwork was also important, as I often worked alongside other sales associates to ensure the store ran smoothly and efficiently.I also had to be quick-thinking and adaptable, particularly when dealing with customer complaints or issues with stock. My problem-solving skills were put to the test when a customer had an unusual shoe size or when a particular shoe was out of stock. In such instances, I had to think creatively and come up with alternative solutions to meet the customer's needs.Furthermore, working at the cashier till required me to be proficient in basic mathematics and to handle cash and card payments accurately. Through my experiences at Clarks, I gained a wealth of transferable skills that I have been able to apply to various roles and situations throughout my career. Show less

Some of these included recording and administering exam papers, script checking, consolidation, filing, and preparing examiner packs. For example, I was responsible for collating assigned papers, labeling them accurately, and booking them in and out.In addition to these tasks, I also liaised with examiners, providing them with support and guidance as needed, and ensuring that they were kept up-to-date with any changes or updates to the exam process. It was important for me to maintain excellent communication with all stakeholders involved in the exam process, including schools, teachers and students. I took pride in being able to handle any queries or concerns they had with professionalism and care.One of the most challenging aspects of my role was ensuring that all exam papers were accurately recorded and administered in accordance with AQA's strict guidelines. This required an eye for detail and a high level of accuracy, as any mistakes could have serious consequences for the students taking the exams.Despite the challenges, I found my time at AQA and being part of a team that was dedicated to ensuring that students received the best possible education and assessment, to be incredibly rewarding. Show less Roles and Responsibilities of a Lunchtime OrganiserAs a lunchtime organiser responsible for maintianing a safe environment for young children, I was required to perform a variety of tasks. Some of these included safeguarding children, maintaining good hygiene, and supervising meals. Behavioral monitoring was also a key aspect of my role, to ensure that the children were following safety guidelines and not engaging in any dangerous activities. I observed children's interactions with each other and intervened when necessary to prevent any conflicts or bullying. I also provided positive reinforcement for good behavior and communicated any concerns to parents/guardians. Being able to confidently liaise with staff and parents/guardians was essential for maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. I kept them informed of any incidents or concerns and worked collaboratively with them to find solutions.I was trained to provide immediate care and First Aid to children who were injured or unwell and ensured that all incidents were reported and documented appropriately.Overall, as a lunchtime organiser, my main goal was to ensure that children were safe, happy and healthy during their lunchtime period. I also set up and managed a membership database, which was crucial for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of our members, ensuring GDPR compliance.In addition, I organised and managed the church events diary, which included responding to enquiries and arranging bookings for weddings and funerals, and managing room hire for private use and community events. My work in managing room hire and procurement has helped the church save time and resources. I also liaised with key partners, such as local counsellors, community groups, and other churches, to ensure effective collaboration. This involved building strong relationships and working closely with these partners to achieve our shared goals.Other responsibilities included setting up and managing group rotas, procurement of supplies/resources, creating and managing social media platforms, creating promotional materials, and performing general office duties.Overall, my time as an Administrator was a rewarding experience that allowed me to develop a wide range of skills and work with a fantastic team of people.
