    • Naval Avionics Center

      Jan 1986 - Jan 1996
      Electronics Engineer

The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division, Indianapolis was originally the Naval Avionics Center. So this is just another name.

    • Naval Air Warfare Center

      Jan 1986 - Jan 1996
      Project Engineer/Project Manager

I started my career at the Naval Avionics Center. I worked on a number interesting project including the AN/ALQ-170 - an airborn radar pod. I designed digital hardware & software including initial designs for a high speed DSP system and a radar modulator controller. After completing my Master's degree, I lead a very successful project for the Naval Sea Systems Command -the AN/SQS-53A EC-16 or 53D Mid-Frequency Sonar system. I was the Lead Software Project Manager for the system and over saw the planning, development, and deployment of these systems on a number of Naval Destroyers and Cruisers. As one of the leaders of this tremendously successful project I was awarded the "Heroes of Gov't Reinvention - Hammer Award" by Vice President Al Gore, the secretary of defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff. The project was hailed by Vice Adm. Sterner of the Naval Sea Systems Command as "one of the most strikingly successful programs this command has ever executed". Show less

    • Hughes Aircraft Company

      Jan 1996 - Jan 1997
      Program Manager/Senior Project Manager

Hughes Aircraft took over the Naval AIr Warfare Center when it was closed under the Base Realignment and Closure Act in 1996. The company was called the Hughes Technical Services Company (HTSC) for one year. My time at Hughes was spent managing the follow on work associated with the AN/SQS-53D sonar system for the Naval Sea Systems Command.

    • Raytheon Technical Services Company

      Jan 1997 - Jan 1998
      Program Manager/Senior Project Manager

Due to a complex manuever - Hughes Technical Services Company spun itself out of Hughes, purchased Raytheon, put the Raytheon Board in charge, and changed its name to Raytheon. Thereby, I became a RTSC employee and Hughes avoided 9B in capital gains I think. I lead follow on work associated with the AN/SQS-53D program for the Naval Sea Systems Command and took over as project leader for the company's program office.
