    • Who Asked You?

      Nov 2017 - Dec 2019
      Producer

Producer, director and editor of a brand new satirical web series "Who Asked You?"A comedy debate show where young, black people pair up and discuss the weeks political, entertainment and general news. The aim of this show is to showcase political and topical discourse between black people, something that is never seen in mainstream media. Black people have their own unique sense of humour, a special and hilarious way of turning the everyday injustice and unfairness that we're put through into something we can laugh about together; my aim was to expand this and showcase it.Many black people feel that political discourse isn't for them because they're not properly represented, their views aren't considered and the drab cynicism of Westminster is incredibly unappealing to such a vibrant, creative and passionate group such as ourselves. In my honest opinion, I feel that this is exactly what the establishment wants, they use our apathy as an excuse to ignore us and callously create policies that hurt us because they depend on us to not turn up at elections. This is why the 2017 general election was such a shock for them and things like Grime4Corbyn threw such a huge spanner in the works. I'm not using this show as a campaigning tool for Labour, I don't even really like most of the party, I just believe that an informed, young, black electorate that is politically engaged can bring about great change and it got to the point where I had to contribute to making a change however I could.
