  For the past five years, I’ve run a small creative business alongside my full-time role, specialising in handcrafted candles and gifts that I ship worldwide. My products are also stocked in a local independent shop in Brigg, and I regularly host candle-making workshops throughout the year. These popular classes often sell out and provide a relaxed, creative experience for participants of all ages. I’ve had the privilege of delivering workshops both for paying customers and in collaboration with charities and support groups, making candle-making more accessible to different communities. The work includes data collection and microbial characterisation of samples using molecular techniques (i.e. DNA extractions, quantification and PCR).
