Often working alone, learning initiative and the ability to diagnose problems quickly. • The equipment worked on includes, diesel engines/generators(1.6MW Paxman Valenta & 6.25MW Wartsila), domestic electrical systems, refrigeration units, chilled water units, fresh water production and treatment, sewerage treatment and fuel systems. • Carried out running tests of the generators after stand down periods. Controlled and adhered to the procedure of the flash-up, ensuring that the HV and LV systems were safe and were able to provide power to their relevant ships systems.• Made live 6.6kV switchboards after maintenance periods. Ensuring that safe working procedures were adhered to, and correct operation of equipment was carried out.• Tested 240V motors, ensuring no degradation occurred due to the marine environment. • Conducted ship-shore power supply change overs. Done in the EU and in non-regulated grid supplies.• Tested both black and grey water to comply with local laws with regards to what a ship may or may not discharge. • Regularly led the testing and commissioning of equipment, post-maintenance. Ensuring compliance to a rigorous and set procedure, to ensure that all maintenance has been secured correctly, and to ascertain the limits of the equipment itself.• Leader of the watch: Responsible for 8 personnel, responsible for preventative and breakdown maintenance on all ship’s facilities, marine, hotel and domestic services.
