  I was placed in the Conventional Systems Engineering Department at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station where I:• Performed energy balances across the turbine system in the secondary heat cycle.• Worked in a team to develop a model which would be able to predict mass flow rate through an orifice plate.• Created an experiment to determine the efficiency of a level indicator and thereafter compiled a letter and report on the team’s findings.

  Responsible for systems on the conventional island at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station related to demineralised water production, condensate polishing, and water transport.My tasks include:• Raising of defects and providing engineering support to resolve these and other issues, timeously.• Performing of troubleshooting/root cause analysis to solve, sometimes, complex engineering problems in multi-discplinary teams.• Maintaining system health through effective monitoring and trending of key system parameters, and performing plant walkdowns.• Driving initiatives to improve system reliability/health, safety, and performance through the implementation of modifications, complex troubleshooting, and performing of engineering investigations.• Taking into account external factors (such as industry standards, statutory requirements, or natural events) in decision-making to improve system stability.• Documenting all engineering initiatives, changes, performance information, etc. through maintaining a 'Life of Plant Plan', updating of the 'System Health Report', writing position memos, and following configuration management processes. Show less • Acting as Systems Engineer in Conventional Systems Engineering (CSE) for demineralisation water production, condensate polishing, and water transport systems where I have excelled in system monitoring and trending, performing plant optimisation studies, and compiling engineering investigations.• Playing a meaningful role in the design of key minor modifications taking place on plant, including a modification which will improve the safety and reliability of sealing water supply to the main seawater pumps and aid the fire risk management strategy at Koeberg by removing reliance on fire equipment as an alternate water supply.• Member of Koeberg Water Forum and Engineering-Chemistry Interface groups where I was responsible for tracking of water usage plant-wide, monitoring of water leak defects, as well as driving the implementation of water-saving initiatives.• Designing a modification which seeks to reduce water usage at Koeberg by 114 t/h through creating a new heat exchange network which will reduce reliance on municipal water as a cooling medium.• Took on responsibility of being SHE Representative which entails compiling ’SHE Talks’, conducting annual self-audits in terms of ISO 45001:2018, performing as the muster supervisor, and implementing a SHE Programme which ensures a safe work environment.
