      • Authored the publication, Cultivating Women’s Empowerment: Stories from Feed the Future for the US Government’s flagship Feed the Future program (2016). Solicited case studies, conducted a gender data review of the Feed the Future Monitoring System, created the vision for the design of the publication, worked with professional designers on graphics, led the writing of the report, and designed a dissemination plan. • Advised, co-wrote and supported the finalization of the first and second editions of the Intervention Guide for the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index resource guide (2014-2016), developed with funding from the USAID-funded Leveraging Economic Opportunities project. • Contributed to research about women’s economic empowerment and chronic poverty with the Overseas Development Institute’s Chronic Poverty Advisory Network (2016). Conducted a literature and policy review to assess evidence about women’s economic empowerment specifically for very poor women and identify gaps in how the evidence are reflected in a sample of donor and multinational policies.• Facilitated ACDI/VOCA’s role as a founding partner of the Partnership for Gender Equity in Coffee, led by the Coffee Quality Institute with Falcon Coffee, AMFOTEK, and Mars Drinks (2015-2016). Served as the primary gender expert, providing advice on recommendations for industry engagement on gender equity in their supply chains. Led research on current practices that promote gender equity in the coffee sector that was a key part of the report: The Way Forward: Advancing Gender Equity in Coffee Value Chains. Show less • Directed the gender mainstreaming and women’s empowerment unit at ACDI/VOCA, a US-based non-profit that works in more than 35 low-income countries with annual revenues of over $150 million annually from donors such as USAID, USDA, the World Bank, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Wal-Mart Foundation (2012-2015). Led the institutionalization of gender equity at ACDI/VOCA, overseeing the work of four gender technical specialists and providing guidance and mentorship to more than 30 gender “champions” based in various overseas offices (2009-2015). Launched ACDI/VOCA’s GenderFirst signature approach to mainstreaming gender equity throughout its programs and operations, which included more than 15 standardized tools and resources such as guidance for agricultural extension officers on gender integration, project gender strategy templates, guidance for gender integration into monitoring and evaluation, and a gender analysis manual and toolkit. Advised numerous projects in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Asia in the design and implement gender strategies for integrating gender equity throughout their programs. Wrote – and advised staff on the writing of – gender strategies and work plans. Identified indicators and integration of gender into monitoring and evaluation systems. • Managed the women’s economic empowerment track of the USAID-funded Leveraging Economic Opportunities (LEO) research and learning initiative (2014-2015). Co-authored and oversaw publications, toolkits and training materials about women’s economic empowerment. Managed consultants and partnerships.       Lindsey is the President and Principal Consultant of Cynara, a social enterprise that provides gender analysis and training plus feminist facilitation and strategic planning. At Cynara Lindsey established the Gender Training Platform, an innovative platform for training and development of international development professionals using a redistributive payment model to ensure that people with more resources pay more than people with fewer resources. The Training Platform has trained hundreds of professionals around the world through small, cohort-based, online, participatory trainings that combine theory, research, and practice into a form of feminist praxis.Through Cynara, Lindsey also provides a range of different types of strategy development, gender-based policy analysis, trainings, and participatory consultative processes for organizations including the DC Abortion Fund, The Asia Foundation, Mercy Corps, Save the Children USA, Oxfam America, and Nathan Associates.
