      BA Music, Environmental Studies, Biology

      Activities and Societies: Scuba diving, Photography, Bicycle Club, Ping pong, Tennis, Studied biology, music, environmental conservation. My best memories are the sailing trips to the Channel islands, and an internship where I lived on 2 of the islands week-on, week-off for 6 months. Life-changing. Did 3 senior theses, including one on Visitor Attitudes about the Channel Islands, and another on Issues and Beliefs Surrounding Sporthunting.

      None Jazz Piano theory, arranging, performance, improvisation

      Spent 2 years soaking up the music scene in Boston. Didn't want to pursue music full time, but met and learned from numerous idols during this time. Left the music scene and big city life and moved to Alaska in 1984. Still play jazz and classical piano locally, and collect ethnic instruments worldwide.

      Supervised various environmental cleanup operations from small businesses to large multi-national corporations such as Chevron, BP and others. Administered water quality tests and used state of the art equipment to monitor compliance with oil cleanup operations above and below ground.Field operations and inspections covered the entire Kenai Peninsula in Alaska.

      Supervised over 200 Exxon Valdez oil cleanup crews in Prince William Sound. Daily meetings with joint staffs from Exxon, Veco and/or government liaisons. Aerial surveys, facilitated directives directly from Superintendent to foremen of boat crews situated in scattered islands and bays, and assured compliance with governmental and private rules/regulations.

Editors described the image as "...true mastery of the photographic art...and a fresh look at the ever-surprising face of nature".

Very humbling and inspiring to be amongst some idols of mine at that point in my career -- Sir Peter Scott, Heather Angel, Jim Brandenberg (Grand Prize winner) and others from Germany, UK and US.
