  On-field Tech and Music Assistant

  I work with the Cadets of Waukesha West marching band running brass/woodwind music sectional rehearsals. I also help with the full band marching visuals. The season starts with spring mini-camps, runs through a two week summer camp, and ends with several fall competitions. During my time with the Cadets, they have taken 2nd place at the WSMA State Marching Band Championships for each of the last three years.

  I am the contact and communications person for all of the teachers of classes that are not considered "block" classes. I set the agendas and arrange meetings with other staff at our team meetings. I teach three classes of beginning band as well as small group lessons. My largest class has 47 students. I conduct 2 evening concerts and 1 daytime concert. I also do mouthpiece fitting for over 200 incoming 5th grade students.

  I taught two of the four high school bands, plus Jazz I and Jazz II. I conducted on a concert, supervised pep band, and helped students select music and prepare for solo and ensemble festival. I also accompanied the KM Jazz program to New Orleans, LA.

  - Responsible for ensembles: high school symphonic band, marching band, pep band, jazz big band, jazz combo, symphony, musical pit, 8th grade band, 7th grade band, middle school jazz -Music department collaborative projects include a musical every year, selections from Handel’s Messiah, and performances of Christopher Tin’s “Calling All Dawns” and “The Drop That Contained the Sea”- High school symphonic band performing Class A literature and receiving a first division rating each year- Middle school band performing Class M literature and receiving a first division rating each year- Marching band of 75 students performing in competitions, home football games, 4th of July Parade, and Christmas Parade- Worked with uniform designer Michael Cesario to design and purchase all new marching band uniforms- Organized and led band trips to Orlando, FL (2016) and San Antonio, TX (2018)- Chaperoned a school trip to England and France- Organized and hosted MACBDA marching band competition (2015)- Multiple Tommy Award nominations for Outstanding Sound Design and Outstanding Orchestra- Utilize iPads and digital drums while working with students with special needs- Skype sessions with composers and members of the community who wouldn't otherwise be able to come to the school Show less
