As a graduate student, I focused on my thesis, "Central Energy Metabolism in Articular Chondrocytes". I led the comprehensive investigation into how joint cells utilize energy. This multifaceted endeavor involved employing advanced techniques such as untargeted and targeted metabolomics, stoichiometric model construction, heavy carbon (13C) labeling, fluxomics analysis, and various wet lab procedures including mammalian tissue culture.Additionally, I actively contributed to side projects, including assisting with mouse handling and knee dissection for a publication. Furthermore, I engaged in research related to COVID-19, focusing on identifying metabolic changes that influence SARS-CoV2 infection. Collaborating closely with the WU School of Medicine in St. Louis, I participated in multiple projects, including untargeted metabolomics and proteomics investigations exploring the interaction between leptin and fat cartilage. Show less Embarked on my academic journey at Bothner Lab, delving into impactful research initiatives. I worked on the "Aminotransferase Purification" project, focusing on refining protein purification techniques for a newly discovered methanogen in Yellowstone. This endeavor encompassed a diverse array of wet lab methodologies, including LB culture cultivation with E.coli, gel electrophoresis, and the adept utilization of FPLC for precise protein purification.Additionally, I seized the opportunity to contribute to the "Anaeromyxobacter Fw109-5 Strain" project, centered on characterizing a recently isolated strain from Oak Ridge Reservation, Tennessee. Continuing my undergraduate research in Fields Lab, I conducted DNA sequencing (PCR) analyses and engaged in anaerobic bacterial culture experimentation, further enriching my hands-on experience in molecular biology and microbiology research. Research Engineer I

I am currently leading the development of specialized methods for analyzing multiple substances using HPLC, LC-MS/MS and LC-QTOF, capable of handling up to 5 analytes at once. I am refining our sample preparation processes to ensure accurate results, particularly for detecting very low levels of natural compounds. In addition to method development, I am also conducting thorough analyses using various other techniques such as ICP-MS, NMR, GCMS, and IR. My responsibilities include improving our lab's organization and safety by implementing better systems and training new team members on equipment use and helped coordinate the efforts of junior staff, student workers, and temporary employees.
