The summer professional development is followed up with sessions during the school year and ongoing in-school coaching of individual teachers and teams. The Inquiry Science Institute seeks to answer this challenge by working with existing CPS science teachers to improve their ability to engage students in doing science using the inquiry approach endorsed by the National Science Teachers Association and aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards.
