This individual project encompassed the study, characterisation, mechanical testing and analysis of metal matrix composites (MMC's) primarily in the field of energy absorption. Mark of 78% achieved in this fourth year project. While at university I developed a strong interest in materials and determining their suitability across various applications while considering their manufacturability. This culminated in the continued study of composite materials which was complimented by an inherent passion of all aspects of design. Show less

    • National Composites Centre

      Oct 2016 - now

Invaluable experience gained and applied in multiple aspects of composite research and development. Engaging with a multitude of projects across numerous industry sectors, contributing to the further development and adoption of composite materials. This has included working on overcoming the difficulties associated with challenging part geometries, demanding application environments, and achieving economic manufacture processes. Experienced gained working with CAD systems - CATIA V5, including complex surfacing through the Generative Shape Design (GSD) workbench. In addition to composite part design and ply definition (CPD & CGX), along with part/assembly design and drafting within CATIA. Complimented by experience in the use of CADFiber (AFP programming software) and other NC programming. Graduate scheme consisting of 6 month rotations in the following capability groups:- Design & Simulation- Digital Manufacturing, Metrology, Automation & Tooling - Composite Moulding- Materials & Processes - Project Management Show less
