      Served in Fulda, Germany as a regimental cavalry tank platoon leader, scout platoon leader, assistant operation officer, and cavalry troop executive officer. After the officers advanced course, I moved to Ft Stewart, GA and served as Cavalry squadron Logistics officer, and as a company commander for a provisional company.

      Responsible for sales, operations and profitability of architectural prestress and block businesses. During a time when prestress production increased 10 fold, developed production process, QC/QA systems, and maintained safe working environment. MAnaged $1.2 million capital project to install double T production line to support move into parking deck sales. Improved block plant productivity by 25%, making that business unit proftable. Conducted 1-2 week on-site Operational Improvement reviews of quarries, concrete block and pipe plants, prestress concrete plants and cement manufacturing plants. Assisted business units in identifying, quantifying and implementing improvment opportunities. Improvements ranged from restructuring, cost control, productivity and efficiency improvements to capital projects. Managed material handling and crushing department. Reduced cost and increased throughput of crushing plant by 30%. Later managed maintenance department of $150,000,000 cement plant. Maintained mills, kilns and packing lines at 90% availability. Superintendent of 3 different concrete block production plants producing about 3,000,000 units annually. Plant equipment varied from semiautomatic equipment with relay panels, to fully automated, PLC controlled 6 at a time plant. Used TQM process improvement to measure key performance indicators and cut downtime by 20%.
