  As part of my degree I had to complete a year in industry. This included working in a functioning lab participating in active research. I was given my own research projects for the company with set deadlines and goals to reach. Working within the company gave me an insight to how a company plans and reaches its targets. Whilst working with the company I was part of the team to upgrade and improve the laboratory into a new facility. I lead a small team of 6 mentors, including myself, to visit a number of students once a week. This is to give the opportunity for any enquiries or issues within the halls of residence to be raised and dealt with effectively by empowering and signposting students to the services provided by the university.
