  I worked in the university laboratory for 6 months, in order to accomplish my thesis. In my thesis I designed the mechanical part of Tubular Linear Permanent Magnet Generator and the control systems for renewable applications using tools like MATLAB, SIMULINK, FEMLAB and EDA (Electronics Development Automation). The hardware used for the control system was composed by:- a MOSFET inverter connected to the Evaluation Board of Altera Corporation (PLD) through fiber optics;- PLD (E.B. Altera) connected to the PCI-DAS;-PCI-DAS installed inside a PC (used as PLC).The PLD (with high sampling frequency) was used to implement the Space Vector Modulation (SVM-PWM),using the FPGA logics, and to control MOSFET switches through six fiber optics.The Personal Computer with the PCI-DAS was used to implement an algorithm with Real-Time Simulink (a feature of MATLAB), in order to ensure the maximum power generated by the Tubular Linear Permanent Magnet Generator. The output of the PCI-DAS was the phase and the module of the voltage to be applied to the machine. Show less
