  Continually working at Arise Solar only during the summers, I was able to experience many different areas of the company working in a new department each summer depending on where I was needed. I started off learning how to market a company by placing a flyer on houses that could benefit from our services. Then I worked in the HR department as an office assistant, updating client and employee files, both electronically and in hard copy in addition to providing wonderful customer service when answering phones, taking messages, and directing clients to the appropriate office. Lastly, experiencing the operations and services department, I shadowed and aided an electrical engineer, visiting client's houses where there was an issue with the solar panels. We then looked over the system, found the problem, and worked to get the system running again, with every so often changing out a single panel. Show less

  As a cashier at Provider Food Services, I had the opportunity to provide wonderful customer service to the students of California Baptist University, taking orders and answering questions with patience and cheerfulness. In addition to working the cash register, I also prepared food in a sanitary manner. When not fulfilling the previous two positions, I kept the back kitchen and dining area clean by washing dishes, sweeping, wiping down tables, and removing trash from trash bins when necessary.

  Currently as a FOCUS (Freshman Orientation Class for Christian University Success) Leader, I prepare for and teach a new student orientation class with one other person. My partner and I meet once a week to review the materials we will cover in class and then plan to meet with each student in a group to understand who they are and how they are succeeding or struggling in their first semester of college. Working as a FOCUS Leader provides opportunities for interpersonal communication and is educating me with valuable lessons in leadership and planning. Show less

  Construction Team Member

  Being one of three members on the construction team, I obtained the necessary materials and tools for construction work from Home Depot and a local lumber yard. With direction from my Construction Manager, I wrote out step-by-step descriptions of work needed to be done on each site per week, ranging up to nine sites. I also managed a construction worksite, teaching middle and high school aged students to use hand and power tools safely in order to construct a building in accordance to plan while also leading them in religious conversations during time set aside for devotions.
