      My focus is to design embodied intelligence in soft medical instruments for surgical applications. I have developed soft grippers and transport mechanisms, as well as steerable catheters. During my PhD I focused on the design and development of an innovative crossing tool to improve the success rate of percutaneous interventions of chronic, calcified, occlusions in the coronaries.

      Einthoven Dissertation Prize Netherlands Heart Institute and Dutch Society for Cardiologists Jun 2019 I have been awarded the Einthoven Dissertation Prize for my work on innovative catheters for the treatment of Ischemic Heart Disease!

      Best Female PhD Cum Laude TUDelft DEWIS Mar 2019 I was awarded the DEWIS best female Cum Laude PhD Award for my work of the development of new types of catheters for the treatment of heart disease.

      Aspasia Grant - Talented Female Researchers Delft University of Technology Nov 2018 In November 2018 I received the Aspasia Grant, which allows me to do an internship in Japan! From June 2019 I will be working on the development of soft medical robots for 6 months. I hope to build innovative soft robots during this time, as well as start new research collaborations with the land of the rising sun.

      TTW Demonstrator Grant TTW - NWO Apr 2017 Based on my work during PhD, I was rewarded the TTW Demonstrator Grant! This grant allows me to work with one of the biggest catheter manufacturers in the world: Asahi Intecc, to develop a novel catheter that can be used to increase the success rate of Ischemic Heart Disease, the number one cause of death worldwide.
