In my first project as Research Coordinator, I led a comprehensive study on the life of livestock workers in Marabá, Itupiranga, and Ulianópolis, in southeastern Pará. The study is part of the Fair Work project, led by the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) and uses the methodology of the NORC research institute at the University of Chicago.During the project, I managed a team of 26 people who conducted over 1200 interviews for the quantitative study. In parallel with the quantitative research, I coordinated the team in a qualitative study, with 8 focus groups in each city, enriching the data with perspectives and reports from over 60 workers.Effective strategies were required from conception to execution of this study, ensuring data quality and integration of approaches. Production planning was a daily requirement to efficiently conduct large-scale data collection while maintaining data quality, methodological rigor, and ethical measures in research, considering the sensitivity of the collected material. My personal achievement in participating in this research comes from disseminating the results and contributing to civil society, aiming for a better understanding of the impact of working conditions in livestock. In this way, it is possible to see how the construction of science enriches the debate and helps to develop guidelines aimed at improvements for these workers, especially with the creation of policies to strengthen human rights, so necessary for a more just society. Show less I have been a Researcher at Papel Social, where I worked on two impactful social projects that deepened my understanding of production chains. In the first project, I participated in a qualitative study on the recycling chain, partnering with the MPT of Paraná and the Zero Waste Institute. I also helped produce the study, mapping the field of action of recycling workers and contacting key actors in the recycling chain. In the second project, funded by the UNODC and using NORC's RDS methodology, I worked as a producer on a quantitative study of working conditions in gold mining in Alto Tapajós, Pará. I assisted in planning logistics, contributed to the research methodology, and conducted interviews with miners. Both experiences gave me a deeper understanding of working conditions and the importance of research in driving societal change. Working with the UN and NORC provided valuable knowledge exchange with leading institutions in their fields. Show less
