      Signal Support System Specialist

I primarily served as part of a retransmission team used to allow aviation componentsto communicate successfully with the command team on the ground. I collaborated with brigade elements to ensure successful transmission of sensitive information over FM frequencies throughout our area of operation in Baghdad, Iraq. I conducted communication security change overs at battalion and brigade level. As the Retransmission Team chief, I supervised and assisted in the successful day to day functioning of the section. I ensured all equipment under my section was maintained and inventoried at all times. I installed FM radios and Blue Force Trackers inside HMMWV and MTVs. I signed for and safe guarded communication security encryption keys and the devices used to transfer those keys. As a member of the Battalion S-6 shop, I maintained and ensured proper functions of GBS, TACSAT radios, Blue Force Tracker, network shared drives, outlook accounts, and FM radios. I maintained and created user accounts on the network for the 404th battalion and four other detachments assigned under our area of operation in Afghanistan using Active Directory. Show less

      Lead Cable Technician

As the primary installer of Holocom PDS for Folkerson Communications, I conduct preliminary job walks and create a materials list. I lead a small team to ensure all Holocom and CAT6 cable is installed to IA and IDG standards. As the lead cable technician, I lead a crew in installing various types of low voltage copper cable and fiber. I am responsible for reading blueprints and establishing the networking cable backbone. I build telecommunication closets from the ground up by installing ladder racks to support cable, cable racks to house the patch panels, and ensure proper grounding of all equipment. I am responsible for terminating and testing CAT3, CAT5e, and CAT6 cable. I activate data jacks by patching cable into networking devices. I install four line analog phones and activate by connecting the incoming dial tone to cable locations by 66 blocks. Show less
