  Worked as the team leader of the entertainment team; an essential part to the visitors’ experience. Some responsibilities included giving various talks around the centre about the displays, assisting the public in hands on experiences with some animals, assisting in group visits and simply talking to the visitors. Being the team leader the main responsibility was to oversee the rest of the entertainments team, ensuring that visitors have the best experience possible. Also had to make sure that all training records and paperwork regarding the entertainments team were completed and up to date. Was lucky enough to have the opportunity to take part in regular dive presentations in the tropical shark tank. Through this I built a strong relationship and rapport with the aquarist team and they often entrusted me with various vital jobs around the aquarium. Regularly given the responsibility of opening and closing the displays area of the centre. Show less

  Working as project co-ordinator on a number of projects involving marine mammal, turtle, crab and bird monitoring, marine patrols and coastal waste removal. Responsible for writing reports on work and findings for investors. Also in charge of office administration work and co-ordinating all emails and correspondence of people wanting to get involved with EMEG, whether it be to visit our reserve, volunteer with a project or to invest, which meant I had to have a very good understanding of every aspect of the company. Had to be confident in scheduling and attending important meetings with current and new clients. Accompanied the President of the company to a variety of appointments including contract signings and exhibition openings. Took responsibility for organising events from small school groups, to larger corporate events hosted at EMEG’s nature reserve. Show less

  Responsible for developing and overseeing our entire Field Studies and Wellbeing product. I am trusted to discover and implement all aspects of new programs both in country and abroad, including Georgia, Sri Lanka and Nepal. To facilitate this I must regularly create and update paperwork such as cost analysis, proposals, contracts, SOPs and risk assessments, as well as providing on the ground training to staff to ensure they can deliver our services to our customers effectively. This was particularly important with our senior science programs, supporting students through their GCSE, A-level and IB curriculums. For these programs I had to work very closely with teachers to ensure we were supporting the students in line with curriculum specifics, most noticeably through the development of supporting documents such as field booklets and presentations. As a head of department I am also part of a management team who are responsible for all staffing related logistics and protocols across 4 locations both locally and internationally. This includes recruitment, training, staff HR, housing, visa paperwork, finding solutions to any grievances/issues, ensuring the team adhere to our staff standards and above all ensuring positive wellbeing amongst our staff team.During my time at Ecoventure I undertook a personal project to make our company more ‘green’. I worked with the relevant government departments to install a company wide recycling initiative. This covered our 4 sites in the UAE which can house up to 600 visitors and 60 staff a day, as well as our head office in Dubai. I also developed a trip for students to visit the very impressive recycling facility in Ras Al Khaimah, followed by a visit to the local landfill in an effort to show students the real scale of our global waste issue. Show less As Field Studies Assistant Chief Instructor I am responsible for managing the entire field studies program we offer. Must ensure what we offer is at the highest standard it can be, as well as developing new, exciting ideas. At the beginning of each season I run all of the field studies training for new instructors (approx. 30 staff). The initial training period is 4 weeks, however ongoing training takes place throughout the year. Also responsible for managing, training and developing Senior Instructors (approx. 8 staff) so that they are able to manage the instructors successfully so that our product is delivered at its best. Must continually develop our field studies product. In the past year I have worked with local authorities to get our company successfully recycling. All clients coming through our centre now understand how important recycling is and what they can do to help. Also working with a project in Ras al Khaimah to conserve wildlife in the local mountains. This involves collecting data and writing reports to be submitted to government bodies. It is being done in such a way that our clients can get involved snd understand the importance of conservation.Regularly run trips at our centre in Sri Lanka. Must ensure all clients arrive to the country and further to our camp successfully. Responsible for safety and wellbeing of all clients and staff while in Sri Lanka, as well as logistics of transport, food and activities whilst out there. Must also develop the Sri Lanka program to build our product. Show less As Activities Manager I not only continue with the same responsibilities I had as Assistant Chief Instructor, I am now part of a management team who are responsible for the running of our product in the field as well as the smooth running of all centres and remote locations, staff recruitment, HR, risk assessments, new location recees and liaising with clients.This year we launched a new product running ski trips in Georgia. I was trusted as one fo the first people to go out and ensure the product ran smoothly, devise risk assessments, develop local relations and write a report for the company directors on what was successful and what could be improved. Show less Rapidly promoted to Field Studies Senior Instructor. Responsible for ensuring trips across the company ran smoothly. Had to make sure all logistics where in place prior to the arrival of a trip and facilitate the smooth running of the trip once clients arrived. Had to be port of call for trip supervisors and leaders and ensure everything met their expectations. Also had to ensure all staff had all resources and training requite to deliver our product at its finest. Worked with instructors and clients to continually improve and develop our product. Regularly ran trips off site for days at a time where I was responsible for up to 100 clients and 20 staff. Had to be able to deal with any eventuality including broken equipment and first aid. Ran dhow trips across the boarder in to Oman, where I was responsible for getting all clients and staff through the boarder crossing efficiently. Ran senior science trips which involved data collection and analysis, some of which were in Sri Lanka.In this new role I was also responsible for the care of our companies animals and aquariums. Developed a team of staff who worked on a rota basis to feed and clean all the animals. Show less
