      A Correctional Emergency Response Team CERT is also referred to as a Special Operation Response Team SORT or a Special Emergency Response Team for Correction SERT. These types of teams are corrections officers who are highly trained to respond effectively to cell extractions, riots, mass searches, incidents and disturbances in prisons. These disturbances may involve violent or uncooperative inmates. Members of CERT are required, and expected, to be available and contactable to respond no matter what time of day the incident occurs. This individual will generally serve as the primary field contact for the REJIS computer staff.Selection and AssignmentThe selection of the individual to serve as a coordinator is the responsibility of the chief agency administrator (Terminal Agency Administrator or TAA). The coordinator serves at the direction of the agency administrator and is accountable only to that agency.
