  Correctional Emergency Response Team Member (CERT)

  A Correctional Emergency Response Team CERT is also referred to as a Special Operation Response Team SORT or a Special Emergency Response Team for Correction SERT. These types of teams are corrections officers who are highly trained to respond effectively to cell extractions, riots, mass searches, incidents and disturbances in prisons. These disturbances may involve violent or uncooperative inmates. Members of CERT are required, and expected, to be available and contactable to respond no matter what time of day the incident occurs.
