      As well as completing my own projects, as Senior Engineer for Minor Improvements Traffic & Road Safety (MITRS). I oversee a small team of graduate engineers, a technician and placement / summer students guiding the studies / designs and checking reports produced by the MITRS team. I am generally the first point of contact for other departments seeking advice on traffic signs, markings or traffic road safety issues. I represent BEAR during fatal site meetings with Transport Scotland and the Police completing the part 2 documentation, and represent the interests of the maintenance organisation when invited to attend developer led road safety audits on the trunk road. Show less Working in the Traffic & Road Safety Team, I have developed AutoCad, Keysign & Keyline skills on AIP (Accident Investigation & Prevention) site investigations, feasibility and remedial design projects on the SE & NE Trunk road network as well as drafting and producing the documentation for Traffic Regulation Orders. As a scheme designer I am used to working to standards set out in Design Manual for Roads & Bridges and Traffic Sign Regulations & General Directions as well as Transport Scotland’s Disability Discrimination Act good practice guide advice. I am a member of the society of Road Safety Auditors and hold the Certificate of competence in road safety audit, as a member of BEAR’s Road Safety Audit team. I have participated in numerous audits for various stages of design & scale of project, in the audit team leader role I have drafted and signed audit reports. I maintained the Cat1/2 sign design database and design signs with passively safe assemblies where required I also produced the moving curser program for the coming year, selecting sites & links that looked likely to produce results in terms of reduced accidents in the coming years, as well as calculating potential traffic queue lengths/journey delays for a road works contracts.       Various secondment/placements with different clients.Primarily Kier (formerly EM Highways) working in the Penrith Office as a Traffic & Safety Engineer covering projects on the MAC Area 13 and then Kier Design Services working on projects across the HE network where Kier held contracts.At Waterman Engineering & Environmental Consultants I was responsible for the collection of journey time data from StrateGIS software to populate excel tables for traffic modelling as well as the selection and modifying of routes defined in StrateGIS, for the future comparison with traffic model outputs and validation for Gloucestershire County Council & Highways England. At Atkins I assisted producing accommodation works packages for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Road as well as initial Traffic Sign and Line Marking design drawings. Show less
