      Appalachian Trail Thru Hiker

I walked from Georgia to Maine! And boy am I tired. The Appalachian Trail is a National Scenic Trail, stretching 2,189.2 miles from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mount Katahdin, Maine. A person who walks the entire trail in a single attempt is considered a thru hiker. I am such a person. And historically, only 25% of us are successful. Not only does thru hiking require the ability to walk through treacherous conditions (i.e. never ending rain, freezing snow, melting heat, stifling humidity, and swarms of mosquitoes the likes of which are rarely seen outside of the jungle) day after day, it requires most of all an unfailing determination and grit to do so (of which I have in abundance). I believe my ability to adapt and determine creative solutions to problems helped a great deal throughout my hike.Thru hiking gave me the opportunity to creatively reset and explore my passion for photography. But I also utilized practical skills like budgeting and planning to make it happen. Show less

      Dog Hiker

I walked dogs! Not just one or two, but up to 15. All at once and all off-leash. Does that sound like a lot of pressure? It sure was, but I made it work. I used many different positive reinforcement dog training and handling techniques to ensure that all my furry friends enjoyed a safe and fun romp at the ranch. Not only did these lucky dogs get to spend the afternoon running around on a 750 acre private ranch overlooking the ocean, but I picked them up and dropped them off right at their front door. Talk about service! It wasn't all fun and games though. This job required a great deal of leadership, time management, independent thinking and creative problem solving skills to pull off. Each day was a new challenge and I was constantly learning and rising to it. I strived to achieve a high level of client satisfaction and measured each days success with number of tails wagged and cookies dispensed. Show less
