      Sept 2017 - Dec 2022

Worked as a Teaching Assistant for the course MTE-380 - Mechatronics Design Workshop. The course introduces the methodology for problem-solving for the Capstone projects in the final year engineering students. The course structure resembles the hierarchy observed within the industry. The TAs play the role of the primary supervisor and the first point of contact for all the teams. The Professor (serving the role of CEO) is consulted if/when necessary. Working as a TA for the course has given me the ability to manage 10-15 teams working on independent projects simultaneously. More information at: https://uwaterloo.ca/scholar/p43kumar/academic-experience Show less The non-contact nature of magnetic levitation systems make these systems prime candidates to thrive within the Additive Manufacturing environment. Conventional AM systems are heavily reliant on the use of a substrate, i.e., a platform attached to the AM table base upon which the parts are built. Through the incorporation of a magnetic levitation system, the levitated geometry facilitate the ability to bypass the need for the substrate, thereby, reducing the number of post-manufacturing operations required. The final envisioned system also aims to facilitate the incorporation of multiple material nozzles to reduce the manufacturing time as well.My thesis revolves around the determination of the initial viability of the proposed system, system optimization, development of several iterations of prototypes, testing within the AM enclosure, development of a feedback controller and recalibration due to noise, while adhering to the initial constraints placed on the system.
